LEFT COAST
DIARY DAY EIGHT JULY 8 EPILOGUE Everything about our week in Wine Country went flawlessly, with the exception of some aspects regarding the reformatting of our Left Coast Correspondents hard drive that left him and The Director slightly frazzled. Otherwise, the "less is more" plan worked to perfection. We had wonderful experiences with the five winemakers with whom wed made appointments, and we wish to express our gratitude to them again for taking the time from their busy schedules to meet us and let us taste their wines. And of course, July 4th at Ridge was incredible. califusa has been into California wine for some time now. He knows the vineyards, the vintages, and in several cases, the winemakers themselves. His many insights and patience with my endless questions have been invaluable in putting this story together. I rather suspect that 9-Ball wasnt exactly sure WHAT to think about two complete strangers coming to spend a week in their home, but the only glitch of the week had to do with the fact that I dont know jack about marinating meats. Other than that, we all got on incredibly well, and indeed, have become very good friends. (Wed see her only three days after our return home, giving her the $3 tour of Ann Arbor after shed competed in a billiards tournament. A month and a half later, Bree would spend five days at Gang Central, to attend the MoCool/Waycool weekend extravaganza.) And let us not forget the incredible "Pagani Madness" tasting that our host and hostess went to extraordinary lengths to plan and make happen. Thanks also go to all that attended. It was great to finally meet you! It should also be noted that Milan and (especially) Jason showed great humor with regard to my somewhat fictitious accounts and characterizations of them posted on three major wineboards as the Dispatch(es) from the Left Coast. Sure do miss those Dobermans |
