George Heritier Introduction and List of Wines The
last week of August ’00 was a whirlwind of wine, travel and adventure
for Kim aka The Director and this taster. Our
esteemed colleague and Left Coast Correspondent califusa aka Allan Bree
came to town with a case of rare and exotic vino in tow, and we managed
to empty every bottle by the time he returned to Sonapanoma.
During that period, we attended Bored Doughnut’s SoCool
Chardonnay/Pinot Noir Extravaganza and the Saturday MoCool
Bar-B-Q, as
well as dragging Bree off to northwestern Michigan to show him what REAL
wine country looks like. There
we had a wonderful dining experience at Leland’s Bluebird Restaurant
and paid a visit to Sean O’Keefe at Chateau Grand
Traverse.
We also had a terrific dinner on Bree's last night in
Day Twah, and
we were joined by Frank Joyce and Mary Anne Barnett, who brought along
some rare old delights of their own.
We wiled away the in-between hours with various activities,
including watching a number of movies, such as Tarrentino’s
“Reservoir Dogs,” Eastwood’s “Unforgiven,” Coppola’s
“Apocalypse Now,” and Mamet’s “House of Games,” washing them
down with yet more wines from the case of califusa and the Cellar from
Heck. For a blow-by-blow description of all the gory detail, read on, if you care. THE WINES SoCool 1997 Flowers Sonoma
